THE JET PROGRAMME JAPANESE LANGUAGE COURSE
|
CLAIR, the JET governing body, offer a Japanese Language Course to all JET participants. There are three different levels (beginners, intermediate and advanced) which have been designed to enable JETs to choose a course of study which suit their ability and needs.
Various aspects of a JET's life in Japan and Japanese culture are incorporated into the course. The costs of the course are completely borne by CLAIR.
|
Each course lasts 6 months, you will be sent one textbook and CD every month containing 20 daily lessons. You will be required to submit a homework worksheet every month by a deadline. Your homework will be sent back to you two lessons after your last assigned homework with corrections. Applicants who have handed in more than 5 homework assignments on time and received a score of 70% or more on each will be issued a certificate of completion.
Renewing JETs may apply for the next level in the following JET year. If you drop out of a course you will not be allowed to take the next level the following year.
You will be sent an application form in August which must be submitted to your supervisor by August 15th. He/she will sign/stamp it and send it to CLAIR. The course begins in December, allowing you a great deal of time to get up and running on your studies.
